It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Call of Duty. I think it’s by far the best FPS series out there. Call of Duty 4 is one of the best games I’ve ever played and then I tried it online. The online portion is just epic. So to hear that there is another map pack coming for World at War I got overjoyed.

Then I got mad.

Mad? My feeling is why hasn’t Modern Warfare gotten any love since its first and seemingly only map pack. I don’t like the idea of paying ten bucks for a few maps but in BOTH map packs the money was well worth it. Well designed maps that add a lot of excitement to the rounds. That first time I got a helicopter on Killhouse made me feel like a man. Not the rest of the grown up stuff that people do and claim adultship on. A helicopter on Killhouse is a true achievement.

But why should World at War get a second map pack and not Modern Warfare? Both are insanely popular. Both map packs have sold very well. I think it probably comes down on Infinity War. They are probably begining the Bungie move to split off from Acti-Blizzard and be their own crew again. The fact that it looks like the name Call of Duty will be dropped from Modern Warfare 2 might be a sign of things to come. So they probably have been far too busy on MW2 to do any new maps. Which is a shame since I would pay good money for them. Especially if they include a ‘Seelow’ equivalent map on Modern Warfare. That would be gruesome.

Here’s the press release for you.

Considering the phenomenal support that the community has thrown behind Map Pack 1 and the demands that they’ve made for additional content, we’ve decided a 2nd Map Pack is in order! Today, we’re happy to bring you the first details of our next DLC.

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 expands the addictive CoD multiplayer experience with three new multiplayer maps and one new co-op/Zombie map. Battle to control the river bridge in “Banzai” – a bright jungle map featuring a waterfall and hidden caves. In “Corrosion” face down your enemy in a shattered train yard, and in “Sub Pens” wipe the monsoon rain from your eyes as you struggle over a bombed-out submarine base. The Zombies make a return in “Shi No Numa” (Zombie Swamp) featuring Perk machines, the deadly new Wunderwaffe DG-2, new Achievements / Trophies… and flaming Hell Hounds!

Map Pack 2 is slated for release this June. Keep an eye out here at CallOfDuty.com for more information regarding Map Pack 2, and follow @JD_2020 on Twitter for the latest news as it breaks!
