Windowsill is extremely hard to describe. I guess it’s a “casual” game. A term which I’m finding increasingly condescending. As if to be defined as a “hardcore” gamer, I’m required to play FPSs all the fucking time… But I digress.
This game isn’t so much a game as it is a world. The only thing I can equate it to is the feeling you had as a kid, playing with blocks or your toy mobile suspended over your crib. There’s things to pull and throw and jingle. Nothing has made me feel like more of a kid in a really long time.
I’m very fond of games that just throw you into it. No explanation, no “tutorial.” Here is the world, play around and see what happens. From the splash page to the final level, Windowsill is very much this kind of game.
It’s flash based and you can either download it or play inside your browser. The demo is the first three or four levels and after that, the final five or six levels will cost you 3 dollars. Needless to say, I bought it without hesitation.
It may not have a lot, but what it’s got, it’s got a lot of. I haven’t enjoyed a game this much in a very long time.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
