I don’t as a rule read a lot of Science Fiction. I read Neuromancer and a bit of the short story Johnny Mnemonic in college and Jennifer Government sometime later but that’s about the extent of it. My friend Noah (Bone) has loaned me 3 or 4 Sci-Fi books that have sat on my bookcase for about two years now. Sorry man. I digress…
Shadow Complex is apparently based on a story or book or something by Orson Scott Card. Mr. Ender’s Game himself. A high profile writer in the Science Fiction genre. That statement carries little weight with me. What carries MORE weight with me however is when the developers of said game come right out and say that their sources of inspiration were “Metroid” and “Castlevania.” I mean, FUCK YEAH! NOW, I’m excited.
Shadow Complex is a 2.5D side-scroller with other elements mixed in. Namely some turret shooting sections. You can also interact with things in the background like in the recently released Klonoa for the Wii. The developers have stated that you start out with just your clothes and a flashlight and acquire weapons and armor along the way which let you access more locations, in the likening of Metroid. Double jumps, guns that shoot platforms that you can then jump on, it’s all in there. Plus it’s got the voice actor from Uncharted… I love that guy!
Shadow Complex releases on Xbox Live Arcade sometime this summer as part of the “Arcade Games of Summer” initiative and looks to be only a single player experience at the moment.
Anyone else excited for this one?
