We will probably never get an official time line for the Zelda franchise from Nintendo. The games are pretty much self contained with a loose overlapping mythology. However, some people have been debating what and how a time line could be implemented and what that could mean. How that could change the meaning of some of the games or point at a possible future direction of the series. This movement has been going on for years with little to no confirmation from Nintendo. That is until this month’s issue of Nintendo Power or whatever it is called these days.

The fine folks over at ZeldaInformer.com got a hold of some scans from the new issue where the staff at the magazine go into great detail about the time line and where games fit. It is a fascinating article that every fan of the series should read, if only to debate its merits because this will probably be the closest we ever get to an official time line.

It’s almost like you’re Stalin. Except in this case, you’re adding yourself to history, where as Stalin was deleting people from history who fell out of favor with him. Well, okay… so you’re not QUITE like Stalin, I mean the dude did have a wicked mustache.

I like to think of myself more as Kim Jong il. You know that guy shot a 29 under par the first time he ever golfed with five holes in one?
