Today starts a new weekly feature here at Bonus Level. The name “App Time” may or may not be temporary but it seems pretty fitting for now. There are two points of genesis for this feature. The first has been Chris’ ongoing review column “It Came From A Downloadable Service”, where he reviews downloadable games from all across the downloadable spectrum. He has done a great job with it and will continue it as often as he can.
The second wasn’t one instance but more of a culture we live in. Just about every day I GTalk with people about mundane things. With certain people the conversation inevitably ends up turning to new Android Apps that we should check out. It struck me the other day how often we all do that and how great it is. On my iTouch I have close to 100 apps (well at least the last time I checked; I’m mostly Android at this point) and I am getting up there on my Droid X as well.
So this feature will be us saying “hey check this out.” App Time won’t be so much reviewing the games, but bringing them to the attention of everyone and hopefully sparking some kind of discussion! In the end we want your recommendations and honest opinions for games. The hope is to bring those bar/water cooler/car ride/GTalk conversations to the site!

In the inaugural edition of App Time I was going to recommend a game that most people have heard of, but then I came across a tiny little app that I can’t stop playing. I love the simplicity of it and I get all sorts of Pilotwings vibes for some reason. The App is called Air Control and it is your job to land planes on their corresponding runways by drawing their path with your fingers. Simple, but the game gets harder and harder as more and more planes try to land. The game has a few levels and a puzzle mode (I honestly can’t figure the puzzle mode out, but it’s there). I’ve been playing the free version and am perfectly happy. I don’t feel the need to buy the full version, but I may just to give the developer some cash money for their efforts. The game is available only on the Android Marketplace (as far as I can tell). Check out the video below to see how it is played and if you like it scan the QR code to download!
