The Pre-E3 show is one of my favorite shows of the year. It always feels like Christmas Eve to me. We know that just in a few days we will get inundated with more news than any normal human can decipher but we love it. Back when I was growing up and rock ‘n roll came to East Germany we didn’t have things like the internet. We got our news via magazines and this was the time of year I would pick up 5-8 gaming mags beyond my normal allotment just so I could see all of the screenshots and read about gameplay. Now we get FMV trailers and read about the gameplay. Not sure how much better things are but at least the keynotes are now streamed live on the internet. This wasn’t the case as late as 2008. Was still reading all of the live blogs Apple Keynote style.

This week since Chris and Gloria are out and on assignment I asked Ivan from the Dimension N podcast and Peter from Saved By The Cell to come on and give me their predictions for this years E3. We also talked about the current state of the 5 Year lifecycle, Call of Duty Elite and EA’s Origin. It’s a great great great show one I think everyone will love!

So everyone (except Raf) will probably love this addition to the show. We had lots to catch up on this week as we were away for so long but it’s worth it. Trent got hold up at work but was able to join us about half way through the show. It’s a fun show and a great start to 2011!

Bonus Level Radio 50: Made A Mess

It is kind of amazing that we have reached the half-century mark in podcasting. What started out as a couple of friends BSing about gaming news has turned into a couple of friends BSing about gaming news! It’s pretty damn cool if I do say so myself. But I know everyone is thinking the same thing right now – why the hell was the show posted so late? Over 12 hours after it was recorded? In two words, fire and pain.

Typically after we finish recording the show I go and watch Big Brother and Leverage with Jena. She then goes to bed while I go and edit the podcast and publish it. This process takes about an hour and a half so it’s usually posted just after midnight. Last night just as we finished Big Brother we heard this extremely loud screech. We had never heard it before but both recognized it immediately from our college days – it was the fire alarm. Being good citizens we believed it to be a real fire and quickly grabbed the kittens, put on some shoes and walked down the ten flights of steps to safety. When we got outside we saw five fire trucks and a fireman opening up a hydrant. This was no boat accident. So we put the cats in the car and chilled trying to figure out what was going on. No one knew but we all smelt something.

After about 45 minutes we went to the car to check out the kits to make sure they were ok. About three steps away from my car I stepped in a hole or something and twisted my left ankle badly. Like swollen to the size of a softball bad. Like oh snap did I just break my ankle bad. Thank god I was in front of my car because I quickly sat done to take the pressure off of it. I knew it was a bad sprain right away. When I was in High School I did something similar and ended up on crutches for a few days. This is just about the same type of sprain I believe.

So after a few minutes of manly weeping in pain we noticed that people were started to go back inside. Meaning the fire was put out and it was safe to go home. We grabbed the cats walked back in and quickly decided not to wait for the elevators to get turned back on AND for the 100 or so people in front of us to use them and took the stairs. Up all 10 flights. Me on one foot. Got upstairs put the foot on the ottoman and used a frozen bag of edamame to ice it down. So I knew the best thing to do was to get in bed and raise the foot. Saving the podcast till the morning. So hopefully everyone understands why it wasn’t up earlier.

Oh and we did ask a fireman what was it all about and all he said was ‘Chute Fire’. Meaning some moron threw out something that was still on fire. Yeah for morons!

In this weeks show, our fabulous 50th, we were joined by one of our superfans, Trent, our friend Justin and newcomer Jason. We discuss the price increase on Live, Lucasarts’ massive layoffs, Black OPs new multiplayer modes and this hilarious video. It’s a couple of friends getting together to BS about the weeks video game news and having fun. Tell your friends!

It is kind of hard to believe that in three episodes we will be recording our 50th show. Most podcast’s fizzle after a few episodes and here we are on the verge of celebrating our 50th! It’s crazy!

This week we had our superfan Peter joined by newcomer Justin on the show. Justin was a bit timid about being on the show but I think he did a great job. That’s not to say Peter didn’t do a good job either. The man brought his “A” game. We also this week named the lightning round the Warp Zone! Seems like the most appropriate name for the newest feature to the show. Also, I like that it reminds me of our very first episode.

This episode is awesome. I know as one of the hosts on the show I am a little biased towards it but I generally feel like this is one of of top five shows. Well top ten. Jess is still out on assignment so she sadly couldn’t join us which is why the show can’t be top five. Seriously though, we ended the show and I was totally jazzed and I think anyone who listens to us will love this episode. Even those who don’t would enjoy it! Hell, I bet Rick will even enjoy it!

Since it’s been a while since our last traditional podcast we had a lot to cover and we covered it all. Our old friend Jon joined us and did a fantastic job. We covered CNN’s front page article asking what Video Games mean, Canada’s first female owned development studio, Activision thinking Call of Duty is this generations Star Wars, a 42 year old woman who used XBoxs to molest a couple of boys and Guillermo Del Toro not directing Wolfman as well as signing a development deal with THQ. And that’s just half of it if not less. It’s a great show one worth spreading around!
