Hey everybody I know its been awhile, but Paperweights is back with a brand new episode! This month we discuss Kurt Vonnegut’s classic Slaughterhouse five. Hey Everybody so this week we’ve lost our fearless leader Lance but fear not as Chris, Gloria and Matt take an in-depth and somewhat silly look at Heinrich Boll’s “The Clown”. A story taking place in Post WW2 Germany and how one man (The Clown) deals with how Germany moves forward but without remembering the horrible atrocities they committed during WW2. A great listen in my opinion. Check back in another month of Paperweights to hear our riveting discussion.

Hey everybody so this week discussed Jane McGonigals Reality is Broken for Paperweights. the book deals with taking lessons from videos games and plugging them into real life. It was a unique read that for the first time in Paperweights history had all of us in agreement.

This is the one book that may have us coming back for a recap, since I think the entire cast is curious to try and implement McGonigal’s teachings into a real world setting. So download and listen to the episode and see if Lance, Gloria, Matt and me are crazy for liking this book.

Our next book was chosen by Matt. Here it is, The Clown by Heinrich Boll.

We realize it’s been quite a long time coming for this episode but it’s worth it I swear! We were trying for weeks to get our schedules aligned so all four of us could do the show. Last week we thought we had it but as soon as we stopped recording Bonus Level Radio Matt’s mic got all wonky and stopped working. After an exhaustive period of trying to get it to work we had to give up. So we thought that’s fine we can do it next week! And we did! Except Matt couldn’t join us. Which is sad. But I think we did a fine job without him! I’m going to try and convince him to post his thoughts on the book so he can still have his say. Hopefully we can get that soon! Until then enjoy this fine episode!

Our next book was chosen by ME so you know it’ll be awesome. Here it is, Reality Is Broken by Dr. Jane McGonigal!

Welcome to episode 3! Our second real episode! In a lot of ways we were not destined to do this episode. We were supposed to record it two weeks ago but had some scheduling issues. Thought we had them solved for last week but than different but very similar scheduling issues arose. So we finnally put them all behind us and go to discussing this book! But than halfway through Skype took a dump on us. Somewhere along the line we were getting throttled and the quality took a massive hit. We did our very best to resolve these issues and moved ahead but as you can hear it isn’t our finest hour. The book itself was interesting and if you are inclined to read it you can. But if not we discuss it here for you! Enjoy!

Our next book was chosen by Chris and is “The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress”. Robert A. Heinlein is amazing!

Welcome to episode 2! This is our first real episode of this series as we dive into discussing our first book, Lolita. It’s a great discussion of the book and I think an enjoyable one even if you haven’t read the book. But if you were thinking of reading the book you should be forewarned that we do spoilers. Hard to not talk about the book without doing that. So if you have been reading along with us this month give it a listen!

Our next book was chosen by Gloria and is “The Man In The High Castle” by Phillip K. Dick. I’ve already started it and it’s a good read!

Welcome to the very first episode of Paperweights! What is Paperweights? Well it’s our book of the month show that’s what! It ‘stars’ Chris, Gloria, Canada Matt (Not Retcon Radio Matt) and myselft! Once a month we will get together and discuss the book we just read and pick a new one. I suspect we will be reading a rather diverse selection of books too so anyone can join! With any new show there are some kinks to work out but not as much as when we launch Retcon Radio! We be learning ’round here.
